The theme for this year’s International Day of the Girl Child was END CHILD MARRIAGE AND PROMOTE GIRL’S RIGHTS.
After talking to the girls at our Child Protection and Family Conference 2026 on their rights and owning their bodies, we also addressed the parents on the Nigerian Marriage act and the Girls Rights act that prohibits underaged marriages. A girl must not be giving into marriage if she is below the age of 18 based on the Girls rights act. And based on the Nigerian Marriage act, if a girl is giving into marriage and she is below the age of 21, even though she is 18 years already, there must be a letter of consent from her parents, or elder in the family, or Head of community in the absent of a father or elder person in the family.
We also took the campaign to the churches and provided refreshment for about 60 teenagers to mark the International Day of the Girl Child. It was also a campaign against sexual and digital exploitations, incest, sexual harassment, etc.
